Horticulture - NCEA Level 2
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs K. Brownlee.
This course combines Horticulture theory with practice.
The range of topics are:
- Establishment and maintenance of gardens
- Weed control by physical means
- Plant classification and naming
- Propagation plants using different methods
- Propagating plants by cuttings
This course leads onto Level 3 Horticulture and then into different horticultural fields such as Amenity, Arboriculture, Landscape design and Landscape construction at tertiary level. This course will also gives students a good level of horticultural knowledge and skills so they can go into employment.
Recommended Prior Learning
Year 10 or Year 11 Level 1 Horticulture, Agriculture Science students can also approach the HOD AgHort
