When choosing school subjects, students need to be aware that many universities require more than just University Entrance to be accepted.  For example, universities such as Auckland, Massey, Otago & Victoria all require University Entrance, but they also set a Rank Score total number of points that a student needs to have to gain guaranteed entry.

Rank Score

Many universities require more than just University Entrance, they also require a Rank Score

A Rank Score is the total number of points that a student needs to gain guaranteed entry. A Rank Score is calculated from a student's top 80 credits, generally across up to five University Entrance subjects. Rank Scores can vary with each degree and university.

  • Achieved credits = 2 points
  • Merit credits = 3 points
  • Excellence credits = 4 points

Universities requiring a Rank Score

  • Auckland, Massey, Otago and Victoria.
